THE AUSTRALIAN NAP RUNS IN RACE 8 AT WARRNAMBOOL ON THURSDAY MORNING!

Race 8 Warrnambool 6.15 Tuvalu (6/5)

Talented sort who has won 4 from 7 and the 3 times he was beaten he has finished runner-up; progressive and hard to beat if returning at his best; previous form stacks up so definitely one to keep firmly on side.

I know TUVALU wasn’t at his best when last seen at Flemington but he has been given time since and he will enjoy these much calmer waters on return. He has scope for further progression and really should prove a cut above these. Cambourne is likeable and has a nice profile too so looks the danger. Chief Altony ran well when second at the Valley on penultimate start and if he can get back to that sort of form that would see him competitive. Still enough to find with the favourite though. Vasmee won at Sandown and then was a good second at Caulfield so also has to be feared. Of the rest Orleans Rock has a squeak but this race has strength in depth so will need to be at his very best.

Race 1 Hawkesbury 3.10 Funambulist (5/4)

Promising type who is yet to get his head in front but not without trying and again ran well when second at Kembla Grange; this his easiest task to date so won’t need to find much more to belatedly get off the mark.

This looks a straight shootout and I’m keen on FUNAMBULIST making the breakthrough. He has finished runner-up 4 of his 6 starts and deserves to salute the judge now. He bumped into a decent yardstick last time and with more to come can finally get off the mark. Stormy Legend is the danger and I expect him to finish second. He did disappoint a touch when only fifth of seven last time though and needs to bounce back to trouble the favourite. Aunt Bridge is at least unexposed but will need more to trouble the market principals. Ninja Star is 0/8 and just isn’t running well enough to be of serious interest in here even as weak as this is. The rest all look pretty limited to me so need much more.
