Race 7 Cairns 5.57 Prime Ruler (1/1)
Likeable type who has won 4 from 7 and when defeated has finished runner-up each time; capable of better again back at this track and very much the one to beat in this field; should justify favouritism.
Given PRIME RULER is 3 from 4 at this track I’m expecting him to prove tough to beat on Monday morning. He will go forward from a low draw and should take plenty of catching under Ryan Wiggins. Cupid’s Son is chasing a hat-trick having found some good form lately. He is the danger but I’m siding with the potential the favourite brings to the table. Higher Realm has 5 wins from 19 but is 0/3 at this track which stands out to me and is enough to put me off. Robig in contrast likes it here but needs to find more on what he has been achieving recently to cope with the market principals. Likely conceding first run too makes this a big enough ask. The rest all have enough to prove on the balance.

Race 7 Glen Innes 7.20 Hauraki Gulf (2/1)
Deserved to get his head back in front at Grafton last time having looked a bit unlucky at times; hard to beat if bringing a similar level of form to the table here so definitely looks worth chancing; will go forward.
Quite a big field for this but HAURAKI GULF looks the standout. He has speed to burn and should push forward and be ridden aggressively. Rose Bouquet is the likely danger following some very consistent form. She may end up finding one or two too good again though. Star Of Harada was a good second at Tamworth before disappointing at Armidale. If he can bounce back he’d also have a say but is obviously pretty exposed now so unlikely to find much more. Valiant already has 3 wins to his name and is still quite unexposed but finished last at Gosford and I’d need to see him put that behind to be of interest again. Best watched for now. Struggling to recommend anything else, lacks strength in depth.
