NAP – Best selection of the evening
Haydock 3.45 Winter Power (11/4)
Explosive turn of foot when on song as she showed when winning the Nunthorpe impressively last season; won fresh last year and if bouncing back will take all the beating; worth keeping on side.
The way WINTER POWER won the Nunthorpe last season was mightily impressive and perhaps that took a bit out of her as she wasn’t in the same form in Ireland next time and again failed to give her running on very soft ground in France on final start. Given time since she is expected to bounce back on return and given she won fresh last year I don’t see a lack of fitness being an excuse here. I can see her travelling strongly into this before producing that turn of foot we have become so accustomed to. She is the class act in the field and should be finishing like a rocket. Twilight Calls could be the one to chase her home as his win at Newmarket on return was stylish and he had excuses last time.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST ALSO WON AGAIN YESTERDAY AND IS ON A HAT-TRICK ON SATURDAY!
York 3.30 Believe In Love (3/1)
Likeable mare who looked to need the run when down the field behind Hamish in the Ormonde Stakes on return; fitter now and if back to the level that saw her go close in a Group 1 last term should win this.
Given the fact BELIEVE IN LOVE went off at 9/1 at Chester on return I think that tells you not a huge amount was expected. She would have blown away the cobwebs there and she should be a lot sharper now. She is proven at this level and got within a short head of winning a Group 1 in France so really should have too many gears for this field. Mighty Blue is pretty one paced but she has some useful form in the book so likely won’t be far away. Silence Please made an encouraging start for her new yard when third at Goodwood on return and if she builds on that she might be the one to emerge as the main danger to the favourite. Glenartney also shaped okay in that race but has ground to make up.
