Race 5 Mornington 5.45 Love Takes Time (1/1)
Likeable filly who looked good winning at Pakenham 3 starts back and not been disgraced twice in defeat since; this looks easier and she is still open to improvement so good chance she can resume her progress here.
The promising LOVE TAKES TIME is fancied to improve again as her stamina is drawn out so this step up in trip looks firmly in her favour. She was only beaten narrowly last time and remains in great form. I don’t expect her to be too far off the speed and hopefully she comes into her own in the closing stages. La Spezia has already won over this trip and she has 3 wins to her name so she looks the obvious threat to the selection. Maid Of Iron ran a stinker at Morphettville last time and will need to better that to get involved here. Still relatively early days for her though so don’t write her off completely. She’s A Karaka best of the rest with confidence high following that Mornington win last month.

Race 3 Cairns 5.21 Call Me Mo (6/4)
Ran on strongly from off the pace looking a bit unlucky when beaten narrowly last time; won prior to that so arrives at the top of his game with potential to do better again; there’s a good chance he can take care of these.
This lacks strength in depth so CALL ME MO looks to have a good chance of making it 2 wins from his last 3 starts. He is bordering on progressive now so should be up to justifying favouritism. Modernism is unexposed in comparison so she could be the biggest threat to him. She will need to better than recent third though so that’s a slight concern. Mt Peter Miss has a similar profile to the selection having won a couple of times here before finishing fourth last time behind the favourite. Work to do to close that gap but shouldn’t be entirely ruled out. Star Status needs more on recent form and the same can probably be said about the other 3 in here. They all look fairly exposed.
