Newmarket (July) 1.50
This is a wide open renewal with most of these having a question or two to answer. I am going to give WALK OF STARS another chance after a blowout at Epsom. Before that run he was heading in the right direction and form with horses like Hafit and United Nations would see him go close here. Horses do sometimes fail to perform at specialist tracks like Epsom and Charlie Appleby who won this last year with Yibir should have him spot on after a gelding op.
Masekela came fourth in the Derby which looks a really good run. That was his first run over middle distances so he still has to prove himself but will be a lively danger here. Of the rest Zechariah will run a big race based on the form with Eldar Eldarov.
Newmarket (July) 2.25
This has been won by some nice horses down the years and it looks a decent renewal again. Richard Hannon took it last year with Lusail and I think he holds the ace with PERSIAN FORCE. Now this colt looked really exciting at Newbury and he conceded first run in the Coventry when second to Bradsell. He is open to further improvement and I’m expecting him to get back to winning ways.
Little Big Bear dug deep to win the Windsor Castle and that form has already been franked so he is the obvious danger. At a massive price Waiting All Night ran well when fifth behind the selection last time and still has potential so looks quite big at around 20/1 in the betting.
Carlisle 2.45
The bookies go 4/1 the field for this 13-runner handicap which sums it up pretty well with most of these capable of winning this. MONICA is the one that I like though after taking a big step forward on her seasonal debut and she looks to have improved again from 2 to 3. She won easily over course and distance last month and looks to have plenty left to come. I had her as the one to beat.
Razeyna has been very good over 7 furlongs and will be a big danger if taking the drop in trip in her stride. Of the rest Ey Up It’s Maggie will likely run a solid race we have become accustomed to but just fall short.
Newmarket (July) 3.00
19 set to go to post for this so not an easy race to call but I do like BOSH for Richard Hannon. He was progressive last season winning at York and Newbury before chasing home Sacred Bridge in the big sales race in Ireland. He hasn’t been shaping badly this season and just had too much to do at Goodwood last time. He is capable of better and at 11/1 just looks too big in the betting.
Khanjar is a big danger as he is obviously complete unexposed. He won nicely at Ripon on return and even with a 9lb rise remains capable of better. Ingra Tor let backers down last time but still retains potential and could run well at a big price too.
Newmarket (July) 3.35
Considering we have a small field for this race again I think it is pretty competitive especially at the top of the market between Mostahdaf and the narrow selection YIBIR. He has been a tad unlucky this season just missing out on 3 runs and this fast ground on a track he does well should be enough to see him get his nose in front. At his best he has some of the top form figures in the race and will go well for Godolphin who have a cracking record here.
Mostahdaf is a big danger but has shown his limitations a little bit in his last two runs and would be vulnerable to the selection on everything we have seen. Living Legend has beaten Yibir but I think the form will be reversed on Thursday.
ITV Racing Lucky 15
Some good racing from Newmarket on Thursday so I’ve picked out a Lucky 15 from our selections. If 3/4 win we will make some nice profit. Pays 150/1!
