Race 3 Tamworth 4.40 Russian Standard (1/1)
Good looking chestnut who has raised his game in recent starts knocking on the door at Kembla Grange the last twice; given time to improve since and won a trial at this track so big chance to make the breakthrough now.
This looks a great opportunity for RUSSIAN STANDARD to open his account. He has shown more than enough to win a race like this and given he has won a recent trial everything points towards a big run. Polylithic ran well here to finish second before blowing out at Newcastle. He is open to improvement this campaign but will need more to lay a glove on the favourite. Caroline Bay was fourth on debut last month and at least has fitness on side but will need more especially to trouble the favourite. Lovelier has some decent form in the book with 6 placed efforts from 10 starts. She might hit the frame but again vulnerable for win purposes. The rest all look up against it.

Race 3 Broome 7.28 Gorgeous Gus (13/8)
Promising type who is chasing a hat-trick after making it 2-2 here in recent starts; impressive running on strongly to score again last time and with further improvement to come should be hard to beat in this field.
I’m surprised GORGEOUS GUS isn’t favourite here. He is 2-2 at the track and is better drawn here getting weight relief. With usual luck should be really tough to beat. His form stacks up and 13/8 looks a decent price! City Regal is 2 from 3 at the track and is 4 from 8 overall so looks the obvious danger. He has more to come but might just be bumping into one in the shape of the selection. Guarded is more exposed than the two mentioned above but has been in good form and he will likely give his running. Advocator is 3 from 41 but at least brings winning form to the table having scored at Derby. This asks a lot more though. Pocket Pistol and Arrogant Miss both fair yardsticks but need more.
