NAP – My best tip of the day
York 3.00 Secret State (2/1)
Progressive colt who gave weight and a beating to Deauville Legend at Royal Ascot and then improved again to make it four in a row at Glorious Goodwood last month; can progress again so hard to oppose once more.
My NAP won again yesterday so I head into York chasing a FIVE-TIMER on Wednesday. Hopefully SECRET STATE can win the Great Voltigeur. Charlie Appleby has won 2 of her last 4 renewals so knows what it takes to win this race. This Dubawi colt has won 4 in a row since finishing second on debut. He found plenty off the bridle to give weight and a beating to Deauville Legend at Royal Ascot and then progressed again to win at Glorious Goodwood. He is a tough horse who doesn’t look done improving yet and it’s no surprise to see him favourite for this. Aikhal won easily at the Curragh last time but I’m not convinced by that and think he needs more here.

Wolverhampton 2.15 Miss Blennerhasset (9/4)
Nathaniel filly who caught the eye running well on handicap debut to finish third at Chepstow, up to a mile and a half for the first time; improved again when second at Chelmsford; this is a good opportunity.
This isn’t the strongest of races so I think it’s a great chance for MISS BLENNERHASSET to make the breakthrough. She is well bred being by Nathaniel and she has caught the eye in defeat the last twice. She goes up in trip slightly again and should come into her own as her stamina is drawn out. I’ll be very surprised if she doesn’t manage to win off a mark of just 67. Oriental Art was behind the selection when fourth last time and is second fav so that tells you about the lack of strength in the opposition. Eagle Court is on a lengthy losing run and didn’t really react that well to the first-time visor last time so has enough to prove. Winklevi has won over C&D and might be value to run into a place.
