NAP – Best tip overnight
MY AUSTRALIAN NAP WON OVERNIGHT AND RUNS IN RACE 5 AT CANTERBURY!
Race 5 Canterbury 6.45 The Poacher (15/8)
Progressive sort who won impressively at Goulburn and then followed up at Hawkesbury last month; definitely has more to come and this looks a good opportunity to bring up the hat-trick; worth keeping safe.
I think as long as THE POACHER handles this testing ground he should have too much for these rivals. He will go forward and look to dominate again under Hugh Bowman. Definitely a nice horse and one to keep safe for now. Kelvedon Road also arrives in winning form having got his head in front at Canberra so looks the obvious danger. His overall record is 4 from 11 but he is 2-2 over the trip so that’s a plus for him. Turning is a decent yardstick as well with 3 wins from 9 starts but he is just 1 from 3 over the trip and has never run at this track. Might need more up against the top 2 in here. Too Good To Be Tru is more exposed than those mentioned but might not be too far away still.

Race 3 Sandown 5.45 Asfoora (9/4)
Tough mare who won her first 3 starts before finishing third in a Group 3 at Caulfield when last seen back in February; obviously open to improvement on return and could be too smart for these first-up.
I’m looking forward to seeing ASFOORA return for Henry Dwyer. She looks a nice mare in the making having won 3 from 4 last campaign and she could go on to better things now. She was far from disgraced pitched into Group company on final start and has plenty of upside here. The second fav Miss Balvenie looks a nice mare too so she is the danger as the betting is suggesting. She has won 3 of her 5 starts and is a perfect 1-1 over track and trip. Should put up a fight. Galenus has 7 wins to his name from 15 starts so while I think the selection might improve past him he is a solid yardstick in his own right so definitely needs respecting here. Hydro Star best of the rest but needs plenty more to win this.
