NAP – My best tip of the day
Salisbury 4.54 Educator (1/1)
Promising colt who improved to make the breakthrough at Haydock on final start as a 2yo; resumed with a taking win at Newmarket albeit getting up by just a nose; given time again since; can improve again; the one to beat.
I’m confident EDUCATOR will take all the beating at Salisbury on Thursday. This colt has been lightly raced and arrives here on a hat-trick. He was slowly away at Newmarket so did well to get up in the final few strides. He has more to come especially over this trip and so it’s no surprise to see him clear favourite for this. Okeechobee is also on a hat-trick and has race-fitness on side so looks the danger. He won at long odds-on last time though so that wasn’t much of a contest. This will be a sterner test of his credentials and I think he has a bit to find with the selection. Belloccio has won at this track but this is a tough ask giving weight away to a couple of improving 3yos. Gloucestershire also up against it.

Chelmsford 5.25 Counter (5/4)
Improving colt who stepped forward from his debut to finish third at Goodwood, faring best of those ridden up with the pace; open to further progress now and could be hitting the line best of all here under Rossa Ryan.
This step up in trip should bring about the best in COUNTER and I think he is good value to turn over Sir Laurence Graff. He already sets the best speed figure on that Goodwood run and with further improvement to come should be finishing best. Sir Laurence Graff bumped into The Parent at Goodwood before being beaten 5 lengths at Sandown. He is the obvious danger but might just be bumping into one again. Think First left his debut run behind to win here last time and shouldn’t be entirely overlooked but it won’t be easy giving weight away to a couple of improving rivals. Eligius was last at Newbury and probably needs more time and experience to be seen to best effect.
