Improving fast and looked desperately unlucky at Sale last time where he was denied a passage at a crucial stage; up in trip here which will prove ideal and great chance to make the breakthrough now.

I thought PARIS AFFAIR should have won last time. If he didn’t meet trouble when coming through he surely would have got there? He goes up in trip here and there is lots to like about his chances. He is progressive and brings the most potential to the table as well. The danger is likely Meinlas as the betting is suggesting. He is a good looking sort who showed promise when third at Sale on debut earlier this month. With natural improvement I expect him to give the favourite most to think about. Hereditary has improved with each race and is best of the rest but likely lacks the gears to live with the top 2. Rocket Boy has had a few chances already and will need to find much more.

Race 6 Gawler 8.29 Magic Phantom (best price 15/8)

Tough sort who struck at this track at the start of the month and followed up impressively at Balaklava last time; clearly thriving right now and if reproducing that sort of form should have too much.

This very much revolves around MAGIC PHANTOM and if he is in the same form that saw him victorious at Balaklava last time then he can make it 4 wins from 7 starts at this track. He is tough and honest and should be hard to pass late under likely positive enough tactics once more. Sanbuck is a good yardstick and he likes it here as well with 2 wins from 4 starts. Only 4 from 32 overall though and my feeling is he is going to need a career best to beat the selection here. Tanja’s Dream is a little more unexposed but has gone off the boil and will need to rediscover some form to land a blow here. Destiny’s Republic won last time at Penola but this is a much stronger race so he might be vulnerable also.
