Promising filly who made a bright start going close on debut at Warrnambool and then improved to win at Geelong; good run in better company than this at Flemington when last seen; should make a winning reappearance.

I know we haven’t seen DUSSE since the summer but she looked progressive then and with better expected now I think she can make a winning return here. She will push forward and might always be dictating here. Smokin’ Holly ran well when third at Moonee Valley last month and has to be respected off the back of that with race-fitness on side as well. Aminatu has somewhat disappointed since her earlier form and finished nearer last than first at Moe so enough to prove on the balance. Hurtle went close at Ballarat last month and enters calculations. He might actually emerge as the danger as he is still fairly unexposed with 2 wins from 9 attempts. The rest all look to have enough to prove.

Race 3 Clare 4.40 Obi (best price 7/4)

Good looking sort who won at Balaklava on penultimate start before disappointing somewhat when last seen; given time since and more to come over this trip so very much the one to beat in this winnable looking race.

No surprise to see OBI at the top of the betting for this. The blinkers are back on and he will likely take a lot of stopping. His win at Balaklava prior to that blip was convincing and I think he can bounce back following an absence. Archery Butts ran on Friday so might not be turned out quickly. He did finish second though and will likely be the danger if eating up and reappearing here. Kingson is thoroughly exposed but has 11 wins to his name so still has to be respected in a race lacking any real strength in depth. Similar comments apply to Two Odd Sox who at least shaped better when fourth last time having been poor for a while. The rest all seem to have enough to prove on the balance of their form.
