Race 8 Sunshine Coast 10.38 Deb’s Ellie (best price 6/4)

Unbeaten filly who made a bright start winning by over 2 lengths on debut despite having began awkwardly; improved to follow up impressively at Gatton on final start back in the summer; more to come so hat-trick beckons.

This won’t take a great deal of winning so that makes DEB’S ELLIE a standout as she chases 3 from 3 for Matt Kropp and Isabella Rabjones. She has been nicely on top on both starts so far and with more improvement to come can complete the hat-trick. Saweetie won here 3 starts back but has been heavily beaten twice since and while these are calmer waters she is going to need to bounce back to land a blow. Zoumeteor ran well to finish second on debut going down just a head and is another one to note with further improvement likely. Tequila Dancer is 3 from 7 overall so quite progressive but has been a little inconsistent but was at least back to form when second at Eagle Farm last time.

Race 7 Moonee Valley 10.15 Claidheamh Mor (best price 9/4)

Progressive sort who has won 2 of his last 3 and ran out an impressive winner when last seen at Bendigo; open to further improvement and looks to have plenty going for him again so definitely worth keeping safe here.

I’m sticking with the likeable CLAIDHEAMH MOR at Moonee Valley overnight. He has won 2 of his last 3 and the penny really seems to have dropped now. He was 4 and a half lengths too good for them last time and a similar run here should see him salute the judge once more. Tobaysure is a decent yardstick who has been running well so he shouldn’t be far away again but does have a tendency to find one or two too good. Pitchanun is similar to the latter but a little more exposed so this will require a bigger performance even though she went close at Geelong last time. Pearl Rain is on a hat-trick and is improving but she finds herself in deeper waters now so needs to dig deeper.
