With Mister Coffey now out this could be a good chance for HAUTE ESTIME to get off the mark over fences. This Walk In The Park mare shaped with encouragement on debut in this sphere finishing second at Kelso. She will need to improve from that but she will strip fitter and likely has more in the locker yet. She will probably track the leaders through and get a nice toe in.

Bardenstown Lad seemed to need the run when down the field at Listowel but should leave that behind and emerge as the danger. He might get taken on for the lead by Indigo Breeze though so it could set up nicely for the selection. The Real Whacker and Red As Rust both need to find more.

Haute Estime 2/1

Cheltenham 1.45

I was really looking forward to this but with Edwardstone out it is hard to look past last year’s winner of the race NUBE NEGRA who has plenty in favour. He beat Politologue in this last year by 6 lengths and another routine victory looks on the cards here. He goes well fresh and there shouldn’t be any excuses. Obviously he is hard to back at the current price but may well be worth including in any accumulators you are eyeing up for Sunday. Definitely the most likely winner.

The betting is suggesting Sizing Pottsie is the threat and that could be how this pans out. He won over hurdles at Ayr and while he needs more back over fences at least he is in good heart. Both Ganapathi and Daly Tiger will be happy if they make it round but are unlikely to get competitive.

Fontwell 2.05

Even off the back of a lengthy absence I think SOUTHFIELD HARVEST is worth siding with here. He has always looked the type to do better for the larger obstacles so it wasn’t a great surprise to see him making a winning start in this sphere at Newton Abbot 18 months ago. We haven’t seen him since but the yard are firing on all fronts so he won’t lack for fitness and should run a big race under Bryony Frost.

Full Back is undoubtedly talented running well to finish midfield in a decent renewal of the Ultima and then building on that to finish fourth behind Our Power at Ascot last month. He has been eased 2lb so must enter calculations but he can walk through his fences sometimes and over this trip it might just catch up with him. Almazhar Garde is another one that could be dangerous under positive tactics but probably needs it much softer than this.

Cheltenham 2.20

This looks like a really open renewal of this race and an each way bet against the fancied pair might be the way to go. THE MIGHTY DON was second in this race last year behind Yala Enki and carries 7lb less this year (2lb without claimer). He had a prep-run like he did at Chepstow last year and can out run his double-figure price. The ground should be ideal too so of those at bigger odds he definitely makes most appeal.

Fantastikas and Does He Know rate the main dangers but they are under half the price of the selection with questions to answer. At a bigger price Back On The Lash could go well back at a longer trip at a track he does well at. Slipway is up 10lb in a tougher race but comes here in good heart so is also respected.

Cheltenham 2.55

The Greatwood usually throws up quite a big priced winner with odds of 10/1, 20/1, 16/1, 13/2 and 11/1 in the past 5 years alone so I’m looking away from the top of the market for this. I can see I LIKE TO MOVE IT running a big race for Nigel Twiston-Davies. He was progressive over hurdles last season winning on debut in this sphere at Worcester and then putting in a smart performance to win a Grade 2 over C&D this time last year. That form looks smart too and that second in the Betfair Hurdle also showed his potential. He was well held in the County here on final start but can bounce back and is a lively each way player.

Given the extra places on offer I’m also going to back HARBOUR LAKE for Alan King. He has won all 4 completed starts over hurdles and showed a really good attitude to get up at Market Rasen last time. He will be fitter now and the stable do well in this race so I’m pleasantly surprised to see him at 16/1 at the time of writing. Sonigino looks the main danger eyeing up a hat-trick now. He is 10lb higher and this is tough but he has plenty of potential so shouldn’t be underestimated. Gin Coco is another one who is unexposed and could run a big race.

Cheltenham 3.30

Quite a hard race to judge this year with the once raced Iberico Lord the favourite at the time of writing. I am keen to take him on running his first race over here as the winner of this race is usually a bit more experienced. FENNOR CROSS gets a tentative vote as he has run twice over hurdles already with his last run a win over course and distance doing it easily by 6 and a half lengths. He will be better for that run and looks a tad overpriced here so is worth chancing.

Springwell Bay is the main danger after a decent win on hurdles debut and he will strip much fitter for that run. Of the rest She Is Electric is worth noting if she can run to the level of her wins against her own sex against these rivals. It is a good race which should throw up plenty of future winners so trackers at the ready.

Cheltenham 4.00

Some nice horses have taken this concluding bumper down the years and there could be a few nice ones lurking in here. We don’t know much about them so I’m going to chance a couple at each way odds. The first I like is CRAMBO for Fergal O’Brien. This son of Saddler Maker made a winning start at Huntingdon and then followed up under a penalty at the same venue in March. He already looks a stayer so might be susceptible to something with a change of gear but will be staying on strongly so has to be included.

The other one I like is KATATE DORI for Sam Thomas. He is well related being a half-brother to 3 winners and given the yard do well in this sphere he might be up to making an impact on debut. He is around 12/1 so any market support nearer post time would look significant. Roger Pol impressed winning at Worcester and the form has been franked so he is very much a danger to all in here.
