Race 5 Cranbourne 8.45 I Am War (best price 11/10)

Progressive sort who looked good bringing up the hat-trick at Moonee Valley on penultimate start; tapped for toe down in trip here last time but should be hard to beat back up to this distance; most likely winner.

Despite that blip last time I AM WAR is a confident selection to get himself back in the winners enclosure at Cranbourne on Friday. He just couldn’t go the pace dropped in trip last time and will be much happier back up to 6f here. He was improving fast before that and should be able to resume his progress here. I think he’ll go off odds-on come post time as he really should have this field covered. Turbo Ken got his head back in front over track and trip last month and if he matches that sort of form here will emerge as the main danger. Exeter is a lot more exposed than those mentioned and finished last at Bendigo so is best watched. Free To Move is another one that needs to bounce back.

Race 8 Canterbury 10.30 Huon (best price 11/10)

Well bred being a half-brother to Group 1 winner Earthquake; back to winning ways at Hawkesbury on penultimate start and ran on strongly denied just a nose here last time; can improve again so big shout here.

The good looking HUON has won 2 of his last 4 and was unlucky going down just a nose here last time. Another yard and he was in front and with further improvement anticipated he should go one better. He’s A Hotshot ran well when third at Rosehill last time but might end up setting this up with the selection as he likes to go hard up top. Amortal has won 2 from 4 and is unexposed but needs to bounce back from a poor run last time. Still has potential though so might be the danger. Per Inaway is also building a nice profile having won 3 from 7 and acquitted herself well in tough company at Randwick when last seen back in the summer. Should do better for the outing here.
