Both sides really stepped their game up for the 2nd group games with USA drawing 0-0 with England and looking the better side for most of that. Iran made Wales look ordinary creating double the chances they did and ultimately running out 2-0 winners. It sets this game up perfectly with the USA needing a win going up against a good Iranian counter attack.
Iran came into the tournament with a bit of a reputation of being organised under Carlos Queiroz. That was quickly shown to be wrong when England put 6 past them. They did score a couple in that game and put it all together in a good win against Wales. They will be a threat on the counter against the USA and you would doubt they will sit back for draw.
The USA looked good against Wales in the first half before being dominated in the second half. They really stifled England last Friday and created more chances than the group favourites. The only thing that has let them down so far is taking their chances. They will need to be more clinical here but should be a tad easier against Iran.
