Race 8 Tampa Bay Downs 8.53 Snackster (best price 13/8)

Likeable filly who impressed running on strongly to win on penultimate start; denied by just a neck last time in a better race than this; very good chance to get back to winning ways here; worth chancing.

This might not be the best race but it represents a good opportunity on paper for SNACKSTER to win again. She impressed winning on penultimate start and that was her third victory of the season. This looks an easier race and I think she can go in again. Mizzen Air is a decent yardstick and she didn’t shape badly when third last time just backing out of it late on. Back down a furlong in trip she might be the danger. Sneaky Cheeky blew out last time but her win prior to that was quite promising so she is also expected to run her race. Pure Elegance won last time but this does look to have more strength in depth so she’ll need to progress again if she is to follow up here.

Race 5 Del Mar 10.30 Anacapa (best price 11/8)

Improving filly who missed by less than a length over this trip at Santa Anita last time; form looks on an upward trajectory now so if she steps forward again she should be hard to beat here as this winnable.

I’m sticking with the improving ANACAPA to come out on top at Del Mar on Friday night. She was back to something like her best last time and after just a handful of starts should still be capable of better. She will be hitting the line hard and looks the most likely winner in this field. Rose Dawson hasn’t been running badly on turf and back on dirt could be the danger. Speed Lane is a little more exposed and will need to better her recent efforts to get involved. Smoothlikebuttah was behind the selection last time so has work to do to try and reverse that form. Trouville finished in front of the latter on penultimate start but then blew out somewhat last time and is another one that needs to bounce back.
