Group G has gone more a less to script so far with Brazil obviously topping it having won both games and Switzerland in second spot with 3 points. Switzerland have been largely underwhelming though but luckily find themselves in a good position and avoiding defeat against Serbia would see them successfully qualify for the last 16 in Qatar.
Serbia were tipped by many as a potential dark-horse and while that hasn’t quite materialised if they beat Switzerland they can still qualify. They found themselves a goal behind against Cameroon but came back strongly to go 3-1 up before being pegged back and held to a draw. That really was a strange game and I think it was only naivety that cost them in the end. If they reproduce that sort of performance here it would give them a great shout.
Switzerland have no conceded 4 in their last 4 games and if you couple that with the fact Serbia have only lost 2 of their last 20 competitive matches we should be in for a great game here. I see Serbia as decent value at 13/8 and I think they can find a way through this Swiss defence. I’m expecting goals too with Mitrovic likely heavily involved.
