NAP – My best tip of the day

Aintree 12.55 Dixon Cove (best price 5/4)

Promising filly who placed in graded company in France and made an impressive start on debut for Paul Nicholls bolting up by 13 lengths at Hereford last month; sure to improve and looks a nice prospect going forward.

Despite racing quite freely DIXON COVE was miles the best on debut at Hereford and with improvement likely she looks well placed to make it 2-2 on these shores. She should come on for that experience and looks a nice prospect for the yard to go to war with this season. I expect Harry Skelton to take her forward and she should take plenty of catching. Isaline De Chandou struggled in a Grade 1 in France last time so should find this easier but she carries a penalty and might be bumping into one in the shape of the selection. Old Victoria suffered a heavy defeat on debut for Gordon Elliott at Down Royal but she was found to be distressed post race and might show up a fair bit better here.

NB – My Next or second best tip of the day

MY NEXT BEST RUNS OVER IN WALES AT CHEPSTOW ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON!

Chepstow 2.47 Knowsley Road (best price 5/4)

Improving with experience and showed a good attitude to leave the field standing before always doing enough to win on debut over hurdles over C&D last month; carries a penalty but expected to be hard to beat again.

I know KNOWSLEY ROAD didn’t hit the line with a huge amount of conviction over C&D last time but omitting the last definitely didn’t help him and the way he picked up to get a break on the field was impressive. He should come on fitness-wise and mentally too and he is well placed to make it a perfect 2-2 over hurdles. The second Goshhowposh runs in the opener at Wetherby so hopefully franks the form. Libberty Hunter looked a promising horse winning a couple of bumpers and only went down a length to another nice horse in American Sniper here last time. He can improve as that was his first start for 263 days so looks the obvious danger. Dreaming Diamond may well fare best of the rest.
