Good looking grey who looked a horse going places winning at Ascot at the start of the year; things not gone to plan since but good start over fences when second at Exeter; highly tried at Sandown; this much easier now.
Jonbon ran out an impressive winner in the Grade 1 Henry VIII Novices’ Chase at Sandown and with the second Boothill franking that form winning a Grade 2 at Kempton yesterday for UNEXPECTED PARTY to finish third it wasn’t actually that bad of a run. He is better judged on his second to McFabulous on chase debut at Exeter last month and with his sights lowered now he is expected to open his account in this sphere. This horse is still armed with plenty of potential over fences so it will be disappointing if he can’t win this. Dans Le Vent has tons of experience over hurdles and is interesting back chasing. He might be the danger but don’t underestimate Gentleman At Arms who could go well too.

Leopardstown 2.20 Conflated (best price 11/8)
Thrashed Minella Indo putting up a monstrous display to win the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup over C&D earlier in the year; shaped as though he’d improve for the run when third on return; A Plus Tard out so the one to beat.
It’s a shame A Plus Tard has come out due to vet’s advice but now it looks a great opportunity for CONFLATED to get back to winning ways. He produced a huge performance to win the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup over C&D by 6 and a half lengths earlier in the year and with that Down Royal run under his belt he should be spot on now. He remains lightly raced over 3 miles for his age and I’m expecting a big run. Stablemate Galvin will probably give him most to think about as he looked good at Punchestown before disappointing at Down Royal. If bouncing back he should run his race. Kemboy likes it here and won this back in 2018 but is a 10yo now and is vulnerable to younger legs.
