MY AUSTRALIAN NAP RUNS IN RACE 7 AT LAUNCESTON ON FRIDAY MORNING!

Race 7 Launceston 10.00 Bello Beau (best price 7/4)

Promising type who looked a horse going places bringing up a hat-trick of wins at this track last month, powering clear impressively; denied just a head in a good race last time; can resume his progress here.

Even with the wide gate I’m keen to side with BELLO BEAU here as he looks a horse firmly on the upgrade. He was denied only narrowly in the Tassie Guineas and with further improvement to come should make it 4 wins from his last 5. Rebel Factor is a worthy challenger with 6 wins from 9 starts and looks the obvious danger having won 4 of his last 5 himself. He did see his winning run come to an end last time though and might be bumping into one again here. Turk Warrior is more exposed but arrives in winning form having got his head back in front at Devonport. If he runs to that sort of level again he might not be too far away. Julius appeals for a place at a much bigger price.

Race 7 Cranbourne 10.15 Mr I’m A Believer (best price 15/8)

Improving young stayer who caught the eye going close on debut and then stepped forward to win on reappearance at Geelong last time; clearly open to plenty of improvement and well placed.

Hard to oppose MR I’M A BELIEVER here as he looks a late maturing type who should come into his own now exploring these staying trips. He impressed to win on return and with fitness on side he can follow up. Zoutellus won at Stony Creek and then finished second here last time. He is the danger on form but will need to find more to beat this favourite or hope he suffers a troublesome passage. Drake Passage is at least unexposed and won at Werribee last time. This is tougher but he is going the right way now so should go well in defeat. Inordinate won at Yarra Valley but has a great deal more on his plate here. Pankhurst could be value to run into a place but she needs to bounce back.
