MY AUSTRALIAN NAP RUNS IN RACE 6 AT TAMWORTH ON SUNDAY!

Race 6 Tamworth 5.05 Russian Standard (best price 7/4)

Good looking chestnut who deservedly made the breakthrough over track and trip last month; now the penny has dropped he could improve again and follow up here; definitely looks worth keeping on side for now.

This looks a good bit of placing and I’m expecting RUSSIAN STANDARD to prove hard to beat with Aaron Bullock in the saddle. He impressed winning by 5 lengths over track and trip last time and with more to come should follow up. The Dramatist won at Rosehill on penultimate start and would be a huge danger off the back of that but he completely blew out at Randwick last time and that leaves him with a point to prove. Sensational Reward had been in cracking form but has gone off the boil now and will need more to spring an upset here. Rura Penthe is still unexposed and knocked on the door at Mornington last month so could have a squeak but will need to improve. Trumped Up is respected but is more exposed so may be left vulnerable here.

Race 4 Queanbeyan 3.55 The Carpet Bagger (best price 2/1)

Promising type who improved to get his head in front at Canberra and then followed up at Sapphire Coast back in December; tough ask at Rosehill but back to form at Goulburn last time; the one to beat here.

This looks a good opportunity on paper for THE CARPET BAGGER to record his third win on his career. He ran well enough when second at Goulburn to suggest he is coming back to the boil now. He will push forward and could burn these off. Alpine King is exposed in comparison but does have 6 wins from 59 so still needs to be feared if he can bring anything like his best. He did disappoint at this track last time so will need to better that to land a blow. Howlowcanyougo shaped better when runner-up at Orange but he still needs more to win this and I have my doubts given his form at Wagga before that too where he finished last. Le May ran well at this track last month but has been stuffed twice since so needs to bounce back to have a squeak.
