NAP – My best tip of the day
Newbury 4.35 Neon Moon (best price 9/4)
Impressed over hurdles winning four times and gradually coming together over fences going close at Taunton and then bumping into one at Ascot last month; good chance to go one better off the same mark here.
Everything points towards NEON MOON running a big race at Newbury on Saturday. He was progressive over hurdles and he has shaped as though his turn may be near over fences the last twice. He beat all bar the well handicapped Cap Du Nord at Ascot and running off the same mark here he should be capable of going one better. Phillip Armson claims a handy 3lb again and is developing a good partnership with the horse now. Flash Collonges was only beaten a length at Kelso last month and he is handicapped to have a say again in this. He has a tendency to find one or two too good though which would be a bit worrying. Sam Barton pulled up at Wincanton last month but if bouncing back to that Worcester form when he won gamely he’d definitely have a squeak.

Likeable type who was a decent stayer on the Flat in France and couldn’t have won any easier on debut over hurdles at Hereford; bumped into some nice horses since and with more to come will go close.
The way NEMEAN LION won on first start over hurdles for Kerry Lee at Hereford was really impressive and while he has been beaten twice since he has been pitched into good races. He bumped into Hullnback at Haydock and was then only 3 and a half lengths behind Tahmuras and L’astroboy in the Tolworth. He remains open to improvement especially going up in trip and I think he’ll take a bit of beating here. Feronily chased home Ile Atlantique in a bumper at Leopardstown before finishing third behind A Dream To Share last month. He could be the danger if taking to hurdles at the first time of asking. Colonel Harry beat a subsequent winner at Newcastle when last seen and is another one that could run well in a race that should throw up plenty of future winners.
