Newbury 1.30

A wide open handicap hurdle to kick off a 10-race thriller on ITV on Saturday. I’m going to chance BLOW YOUR WAD bouncing back here at a decent each way price. This Walk In The Park gelding had some strong form in bumpers finishing second to Luccia and Tahmuras and then bumped into a nice type in Leave Of Absence when runner-up on debut over hurdles. He improved to open his account at Kempton and then was highly tried in the Tolworth. Now handicapping following a wind op I think we’ll see a much improved performance.

Inneston has the best recent form finishing second in the EBF Final last time and could still improve again so looks the danger. Atlanta Brave has won 2 from 3 over hurdles and would have won further last time but for idling. He clearly has a bright future but the drop back in trip might count against him here albeit still feared. Glen Cannel is another one to note.

Kelso 1.50

A really open handicap to kick off the card at Kelso with the bookies pricing it up 5/1 the field at the time of writing. There looks to be plenty of solid each way bets in here and I think LIMERICK LEADER could be a big price. He is still relatively unexposed at this trip over hurdles and ran a cracker at Ayr over this trip 2 weeks ago. He might step forward for that run as that was his first over hurdles for a while. He is overpriced at 12/1 that’s for sure even in this open race.

Prairie Wolf arrives here in great form and is the favourite at the time of writing. He has finished 2nd, 1st and 2nd on his last 3 runs by fine margins but is up 5lb here which could just make him vulnerable to horses at lower weights such as Euchan Falls who is on a hat-trick here and gets plenty of weight. Coral Blue and Les’s Legacy look best of the rest.

Newbury 2.05

Another fiercely competitive race but I do like HELTENHAM for Dan and Harry Skelton. This horse has really improved recently making the breakthrough at Newcastle beating a stayer in Just Don’t Know and then followed up at Ffos Las asserting with plenty in hand. This softer ground should prove ideal and up 7lb looks to have a great chance to bring up the hat-trick and cap off a fine season. He is a really nice prospect going forward up in trip and I’m hopeful he can go very close in this.

Plenty of dangers probably headed by Super Six who is a gutsy sort. He won by 15 lengths at Haydock and the way he jumped there he will likely be a big player again despite the 9lb rise. Espoir De Guye is burdened with top-weight and probably needed the run behind The Big Bite here last time. If he improves on that he could have a say in the finish as well.

Newbury 2.05

Heltenham 9/2

Kelso 2.25

Just 7 runners for this valuable handicap with SPIKE JONES looking like a good price in his current vein of form. He has form of 133141 with the last win being ultra impressive on very soft ground. He only gets 6lb for that win which should be fine in a race that lacks a bit of depth. He handles all ground types and he will be going close again.

Jet Legs has really improved since going up in trip and may well improve again here. He is a lively danger to all his rivals carrying just 10 stone 8lb. Theme Tune arrives on a hat-rick after wins at Haydock and Newcastle and with a small rise at the weights he will have a say here. At a bigger price Flower Of Scotland could be well-in based on his rating over fences and could run a big race too.

Kelso 2.25

Spike Jones 4/1

Newbury 2.40

Probably the toughest race of the day to call so no surprise I have taken two against the field. My main play is definitely going to be MOVIDDY for Noel Williams. This mare routed the opposition at Lingfield last month and improved in defeat when beaten narrowly by Ilovethenightlife at Doncaster. She is on the upgrade and the yard won this last year with Largy G so I fancy a big run at what looks decent odds.

The other one I’ve got to play is MRS GRIMLEY even though she hasn’t been quite at her best lately. She was third behind Moviddy at Doncaster but that was a step back in the right direction and if building on that she could surprise a few here. Ruby Island is a danger to all and Lets Go To Vegas also looks capable of a big run after deservedly getting her head back in front at Ludlow last time.

Kelso 3.00

A really open mares’ handicap with it hard to rule any of these out with confidence but I think AUTUMN RETURN is a great price. She seems to have really stepped forward on her last two runs with an easy win at Catterick before going close on her handicap debut at Newcastle. Patrick Wadge takes off a useful 5lb which I think is the key to her going close in this race.

Bonttay is clear favourite for this and even though she has good form, especially in the mares flat races at Cheltenham I am happy to take her on at the prices. I actually think a couple at bigger prices could be the main dangers. Midnight Shuffle in first-time cheekpieces back at this trip could see her in a better light and Never No Trouble with form of 232231 always runs her race.

Meydan 3.10

Lord North should go close in this after warming up for it with a win in the Winter Derby at Lingfield last month. He has won this for the last two years albeit dead-heating last year but his odds represent little to no value so I’m going to oppose with an each way chance. I like REAL WORLD and if you forgive him that reappearance run last time he is going to be a major player in this. He chased home Baaeed twice before that disappointment and is clearly still a high-class operator.

Of the rest Serifos is clearly quite exciting and could show up well. Master Of The Seas won the Zabeel Mile on return and then chased home Alfareeq last time and if finding more here might also be an each way player.

Kelso 3.35

I am not usually a fan of horses taking massive jumps in the handicap but FORWARD PLAN looks to have a great chance of landing his hat-trick here. He is thriving at this extended 3 mile trip with form figures of 221211 with an easy 8 length win last time out. He is up 10lb for that win but they have found another winnable race for him.

This race lacks much opposition on current form and the selection will be hard to beat with Half Shot looking the main danger. He has been in great form over shorter trips and will be a threat if he can do it at this much longer distance. Clonguile Way is a thorough stayer and will run his usual race but will probably be vulnerable to improvers.

Forward Plan 11/4

Meydan 4.00

No surprise to see EQUINOX hugely popular for this. He has been impressive winning the Tenno Sho and the Arima Kinen last year and looks to have tons going for him. He almost certainly has more to come and should be up to justifying favouritism. Last year’s winner Shahryar may well threaten after running a good second in the Japan Cup back in November.

Breeders’ Cup Turf winner Rebel’s Romance still possesses a fair bit of potential and he might surprise a few running a big race. Of the rest Westover would have gone close in the Derby but for suffering interference and showed up well in the Arc so could also get involved if fit and ready to fire on return.

Meydan 4.00

Equinox 1/1

Meydan 4.35

I have been sweet on COUNTRY GRAMMER winning this again after taking this race last year for a while now but the draw makes it less straightforward. He has been drawn in 14 which isn’t ideal as he won it from 5 last year. Horses have won it from double-figure draws recently though and I think he is the best horse in the race so can get away with it. Frankie Dettori takes the ride again and he is still the one to beat.

Algiers has some great form to his name and has edged into favouritism despite being drawn 13. He was really impressive at the track back in February and rates the main danger. The Saudi Cup form is on show with most of the field running here and Panthalassa will need to be very good to make all from stall 16. The selection was second that day and will reverse that form but the best of the rest might prove to be Cafe Pharoah.

ITV Racing Lucky 15

With 10 races live on ITV Racing on Saturday I’ve taken my four strongest bets to make a Lucky 15. If we can land 3/4 winners we would make some decent profit. Pays 400/1!

I really like the look of these two at decent odds so I’ve combined them to make a juicy looking Each Way Double for Saturday. Even if both place we would make some nice profit. Pays 75/1!
