Royal Ascot Day 3 Tips
After a bit of a brutal day on the second day at Ascot Day 3 of the royal meeting presents plenty of good opportunities with my best bet of the week running plus a 12/1 Double and 6641/1 Lucky 15!
I am going for the bet365 £100,000 6 Horse Challenge again on Day 2 of Royal Ascot, get my 6 picks here. It is free.

A fascinating renewal of the Norfolk Stakes as while we are likely to get a big field again the market is suggesting only a handful of these are capable of winning. In truth the race revolves around just two horses with exciting National Stakes winner ELITE STATUS locking horns with the unbeaten American speedball American Rascal. The latter was impressive winning on debut at Keeneland and the yard won this back in 2018 with Shang Shang Shang but the form of that race has taken a few knocks since. That was also obviously on dirt so this will be a different test switching to turf and he lacks experience having only seen a racecourse once.
I am really keen on Karl Burke’s 2yo as I was blown away by that performance at Sandown. He quickened so well and given he was impressive on debut at Doncaster too we have two bits of evidence to suggest he is a very smart horse in the making. He has won on soft and good ground so whatever the weather does he is versatile and with Asadna going for the Coventry on Tuesday the 7/4 is worth snapping up as I think he’ll go off even shorter than that.
Charlie Appleby and William Buick won this last year with Secret State so no surprise to see Tagabawa top the betting. His win at Kempton has been nicely franked since but this does represent a very different test and I think 4/1 offers very little value. BURGLAR is the one I like in opposition for John and Thady Gosden.
This Cracksman colt won impressively on debut having been punted into odds-on and while he let backers down second start he was back on track and stylishly too scoring at Redcar on reappearance last month. He will come on for that and will likely relish this extra yardage here too. I’ve got a feeling he could be a really smart prospect going forward so hopefully he wins this. Of the rest Bertinelli represents Ballydoyle and showed a good attitude to prevail at Newbury so with improvement expected should also be in the mix.
This looked a really open race before AL ASIFAH was supplemented for this after a really eye catching win at Goodwood under 2 weeks ago. The daughter of Frankel was so impressive winning by over 6 lengths. The Gosdens always do well in this race and if she is better for the step up to this trip she is the one they all have to beat.
Infinite Cosmos ins the main danger after a good maiden win at Newmarket followed up by a good run in the Musidora at York behind the eventual Oaks winner. My only worry with her is she will lead and set it up for the rest. At a much bigger price Warm Heart is improving a lot with every run so could be well overpriced for a place at least with the form the yard are in.
Kyprios put in a brave performance to see off Mojo Star and Stradivarius in this last year and it is always I race I love watching at Royal Ascot! I’m strong on ELDAR ELDAOV this year for Roger Varian. This 4yo has only actually run 7 times so could still have a lot more improvement to come especially going up to this trip for the first time. He beat all bar Giavellotto at York last month with Broom and Quickthorn in behind and shaped as though he’d come on for the run and be better over further.
He looks a young stayer to keep firmly on side and I think he’ll end up going off clear fav for this. Coltrane is so consistent and impressed winning the Sagaro Stakes here on reappearance and looks the obvious danger. I’ve got a feeling Subjectivist who won this back in 2021 could put up a big performance too so might be worth an each way saver.
The first of our massive field handicaps looks as competitive as ever and two each-way plays is the way to go. SURELY NOT is marginally my better bet of the two after winning 3 of his last 4 races with a nice win at Chester when last seen. Hollie Doyle has already been in the winners enclosure this week and with improvement to come I hope this one has a live chance.
Like my first bet in the race STARNBERG comes here on a hat-trick as well. He has won his last two races with ease. They were a lot easier than this but he is clearly still improving so the 12lb penalty for his last win may not stop another huge run. Frankie is on the favourite Quantum Impact who will be a big danger to all along with Docklands and Racingbreaks Ryder.
I have been really impressed with TORITO so far and I think this colt can improve again to win this. He has won 2 from 3 this season and this Kingman colt looked firmly in control winning at Epsom at the start of the month. I quite liked the third Balance Play so I think that form will work out nicely in time. Even the fifth Promoter is one to look out for on softer ground. He steps into Group company now and with Benoit De La Sayette in the saddle he is going to run big in this.
Stablemate Epictetus has Dettori on and may even be the one to give him most to think about. My issue with him is he had a hard enough race behind Ace Impact in France and that just about put me off but he obviously has the form in the book. WAIPIRO is quite a big price as the way he has shaped the last twice he should relish dropping back to 1m2f an might be worth an each way saver.
Maximum field of 29 likely to line up here and the first of my two bets UNFORGOTTEN is the favourite at the time of writing. He has proven he stays further on his last few runs going very close a few times. You would expect he is handicapped to win one of these big races after losing out by a length on his last run off the same mark.
At a bigger price NORTHERN EXPRESS looks a good each-way bet dropping back down to 7 furlongs. He stays well and handles any ground as he showed when he ran over course and distance in the International Stakes last year. A repeat of the performance would see him outrun his odds again. Montassib could go closer with a better draw than last year and Biggles will run a big race if it isn’t too quick for him.
