Race 6 Ballarat 6.30 Smokey Warrior (best price 1/1)
Good looking mare who created quite a big impression winning so easily on debut over C&D last month, nicely on top at the line; sure to improve from that initial effort and well placed to make it a perfect 2-2 here.
This shouldn’t take too much winning so SMOKEY WARRIOR is a strong play at anything bigger than even money. She won pretty much head in chest on debut and if improving again will be tough to hold out. Pammy Joy was poor last time at Stawell nearer last than first but her previous form would entitle her to have a say in this. Ronay could also get competitive if bringing her best form but she has been running a bit flat recently. Boho Miss needs to better recent form as well but she is better than what she managed to show at Kyneton last time.

Race 5 Kembla Grange 6.10 Lovero (best price 1/1)
Likeable mare who won at Gosford 3 starts back and has held her form well in defeat since, only missing narrowly at Canterbury last time; more to come yet and looks to have found the right race here.
Down in grade there shouldn’t be any excuses for LOVERO here. Her form is strong and she is still unexposed so if she improves again she should return to the winners enclosure. Stylish Pedrille won on penultimate start but wasn’t so good at Randwick. She does still look the danger though. Rebel Dean had looked promising initially but he was poor last time and has a bit to prove off the back of that. Mount Warning has been consistent but probably lacks the potential of a few of these so would need a career best and then some to come out on top.
