AUSTRALIAN NAP BANKED OVERNIGHT! Racing Down Under on Friday from Tamworth, Ipswich, Echuca, Dubbo and Broome. Overnight Double pays 11/2!
Race 1 Echuca 3.30 Struck Gold (best price 11/10)
Promising type who shaped with plenty of encouragement to finish third on debut at Avondale last month, only beaten half a length at the line; sure to build on that initial effort and looks the one to beat now.
My Australian NAP was back in the winners enclosure overnight so hopefully I can put a run of winners together now. I head to Echuca on Friday morning where STRUCK GOLD should justify favouritism. He finished third on debut but was only beaten half a length and wouldn’t need to find much more improvement to make the breakthrough now. It’sbruce left his debut run behind to finish runner-up at Terang last time and could be the danger if stepping forward again. Of the rest Favourite Child makes her debut and could run well but watch for market signals on that one.

Race 2 Ipswich 3.57 The Astronomer (best price 2/1)
Likeable sort who made a perfect start winning on debut at Grafton last time, nearly 2 lengths clear at the finishing line; open to improvement and well drawn here so very good chance to go 2-2.
There is a bit of an unknown in here with Ozzie The Rabbit making his debut but even still THE ASTRONOMER won with plenty to spare on debut at Grafton and with improvement expected should prove hard to beat. He was nearly 2 lengths clear at the finish and is armed with a good draw here too so lots to like. Kesalul also made a bright start winning on debut at Ipswich but hard to know what he beat and he did only prevail by a nose so I think he needs to improve a fair bit on that to get involved. Toute Sweet is also in deeper waters so needs to find more again.
