I think as long as GOLDEN SHOT handles the ground he will get back to winning ways here. He has won 3 of his last 5 and some of his form is really stacking up now. He beat Two Auld Pals at Ayr on reappearance and that horse won nicely at the weekend to frank the form. He was denied at York last time but went down just a neck at the line with the front pair clear and that looks good form. The one to beat.

Captain Kane is likeable and built on that promising second at Ripon to win gamely by a nose at Lingfield last month. He is up 3lb but should still be the danger. Soft ground isn't ideal though and that swayed the vote. Of the rest Black Kalanisi is interesting back from a lengthy absence.

The improving IRISH DESSERT looks worth chancing to open his account here. He has progressed with every run since sent handicapping and only went down less than 2 lengths into third at Leicester last month. That was a big run as he did some good late work and the front pair both look like useful types. He is actually 1lb lower here and has obvious claims of getting off the mark.

Flying Barty has failed to fire this season but is dropping fairly quickly in the weights as a result and another 3lb drop could see her get competitive. She also sports a first-time hood which is quite interesting. Of the rest Monaadhil wasn't beaten far last time and is also noted.
