Newmarket 1.50
I still think ORAZIO has a big pot in him this season and hopefully he can return to winning ways here. He caught the eye on reappearance going down just a length and a half at Doncaster and with that under his belt back in handicap company he could prove tough to beat. Buick gets the leg back up and conditions should be ideal.
Significantly ended last year firmly on the up going down a short head in the Portland before winning by a neck in the Ayr Gold Cup. He signed off with another good run when second at York and has plenty going for him but his record fresh swayed the vote to the favourite.
Cheltenham 2.05
Things have really clicked for SPRING NOTE of late and she arrives here now chasing a hat-trick. She made all and kept finding to win at Newbury last month beating the progressive Brentford Hope and with this step back up in trip likely to suit I think she could be capable of defying a further 7lb rise. She remains unexposed and I’m keen to keep her on side as there is potential for a soft lead as well which would obviously be ideal.
Sea Invasion won by 7 lengths on handicap debut at Plumpton last month and could be the danger up 7lb as well. Titan Discovery has recent form figures of 21212 and is another one unlikely to be far away as he still remains unexposed too.
Newmarket 2.25
This looks a wide open Feilden Stakes but preference is for GASPER DE LEMOS for Aidan O’Brien. This colt by Justify shaped as though he needed the experience when only fourth on debut at Leopardstown but quickly stepped forward to win his maiden impressively at the Curragh. He wasn’t disgraced at Group level on final start and should make a better 3yo.
The danger is probably Narkez who comes over from France and impressed bolting up at Saint-Cloud last time. He has a fitness edge on these and should run well. Native American is also in with a shout if improving again.
Cheltenham 2.40
Back to form when fifth in the Plate last month IN EXCELSIS DEO could prove hard to beat here. He was given too much to do last time but ran on well and he likely would have won at Sandown before unseating before that. This is easier and off the same mark he really should be going close and even at 10/3 might be a bit of value.
Sail Away struggled at Ascot when last seen but that was at the top level so he will find this easier. He has some decent form so has to be feared. Final Orders has been more miss than hit lately but again he could still run well with the cheekpieces back on returning from a break.
Newmarket 3.00
It is hard to get away from ROYAL RHYME here for Karl Burke. This colt by Lope De Vega looked a smart prospect bolting up at Glorious Goodwood and backed that up to follow up at Ayr. He certainly wasn’t disgraced at the top level beaten just 5 lengths by King Of Steel in the Champion Stakes and is very much the one to beat on return with more to come as a 4yo.
Ottoman Fleet was successful in this race last year but that looked a pretty weak renewal and despite having a fitness edge might still struggle to hold out the selection. Embesto likely has more to come and might be a greater danger.
Newmarket 3.35
Tons of potential lining up in this and I’m keen to keep unbeaten Dubawi filly DANCE SEQUENCE on side. She overcame inexperience to make a winning debut and even when she hit the front she ran green so it was a really promising start. She was understandably given time and improved again to win at Group 3 level on final start. That form has been franked since with the fourth Chic Colombine winning by 6 lengths at Listed level next time out. Even the fifth Bellarchi won the other day so it looks decent. She has more to come and looks quite an exciting individual.
Matrika has won 2 from 3 for Aidan O’Brien and looks the obvious danger.
