Newmarket 1.50

The way KALPANA bolted up over C&D last month was mightily impressive and it is no surprise to see her tackle Listed level now. She has won 2 of her 3 starts and with more to come especially over this trip she gets a confident vote to follow up. Andrew Balding has his yard in good order too so there is lots to like.

Winter Snowfall impressed beating Danielle at Chelmsford and that form has been boosted so she looks the danger. Friendly Soul is being nibbled at and she did impress winning on debut but this is a big step up.

Hamilton 2.05

That was a career best from TWO BROTHERS at Thirsk and if he handles the quick turnaround he looks well placed to follow up here despite a 6lb rise. He has won 2 of his last 3 now and his form is progressive. He should be on the pace so there won’t be any excuses and I expect him to run another big race.

The danger is probably Capital Theory who has a run under his belt having finished fourth at Chelmsford and that form has been boosted since.

Back on a sound surface with her sights lowered I’m expecting RUNNING LION to make a winning return here. She has some strong form to her name and while she wasn’t at her best on Champions Day she remains a filly with considerable potential and better can be expected again as a 4yo.

Silver Lady showed a good attitude to prevail in Dubai when last seen and is a likely threat. Caernarfon should also get competitive.

Salisbury 2.40

I’m looking forward to seeing Time Test filly BETTY CLOVER out again for Eve Johnson Houghton. She made a perfect start winning on debut at Bath and given the runner-up Englemere has won easily since the form has already been nicely franked. Visually it was impressive the way she picked up and ran through the line and if she improves from that initial experience which is a near certainty then it really wouldn’t surprise me to see her go 2-2.

Convo won in good style on debut in France and could be a nice filly too now with Amy Murphy so looks the danger. Of the 3 debutants Royal Equerry looks the most interesting on breeding so watch the market.

The money was down for INTINSO on reappearance and he made no mistake winning readily at Wolverhampton. He was beaten at Kempton last month and was well backed again but certainly wasn’t disgraced given a lot to do and eventually going down just 3 lengths. He steps up in trip for his return to turf and I think that could really suit. He is off the same mark and the yard are flying operating at a near 30% strike rate in the past fortnight so there is lots to like.

Berkshire Rocco, Torcello and even New London could go forward so he will get a nice toe in which could help him settle. The latter is the danger but he was a bit laboured in Dubai and has a bit to prove. Bague D’or likes this track and also has a chance.

Confidence from the Karl Burke yard surrounding FALLEN ANGEL has been infectious and I’m really hoping this filly can deliver. She opened her account in good style in the Sweet Solera and then followed up at the top level in the Moyglare over in Ireland on final start. She looked a filly that would improve with age and strengthen into her big frame. She is coming here fresh but has had a racecourse gallop so shouldn’t lack for fitness. There is a lot of pace on as you’d expect for a Guineas and I think she’ll be the one finishing best.

Ylang Ylang is plenty talented and is the danger but O’Brien horses are just shaping as though they need a run. Dance Sequence is also respected.
