Newmarket 1.45
Tricky opener to kick off ITV on Guineas day but WOODHAY WONDER should give us a good run for our money. She shaped like she’d improve for the run when third to More Thunder on reappearance over C&D last month. The yard are flying and she makes more appeal than most.
Lethal Levi has top-weight but shouldn’t be underestimated. He was only beaten a length on reappearance and can build on that now.
Goodwood 2.00
I certainly wouldn’t judge CHIC COLOMBINE too harshly on that reappearance run. She looked like she needed it and now second time out following a wind op we should see a much more polished performance. She is still just a 4yo and could still do better over a mile this season.
Crimson Advocate was denied just a nose by Soprano at Kempton and with more to come over this trip she looks the biggest danger.
Newmarket 2.20
Hand Of God was progressive when last seen winning ar Royal Ascot but he is up 11lb and lacks a run so is no certainty. I’m keen to chance APPROVAL in opposition. He won 2 of his last 3 starts and impressed winning at Goodwood. He could still be capable of better and looks well handicapped.
The fav does look the danger but Arabian Light is also feared as he was in winning form in Dubai when last seen and likely has more to come.
Thirsk 2.35
I’m surprised CRUYFF TURN has largely been overlooked in the betting here. He caught the eye on reappearance behind Classic Encounter and then stepped forward to win back down to 7f last time. That form was franked yesterday and back up to a mile he could run a massive race again.
Hi Royal hasn’t won since he was a 2yo but he is relatively lightly raced and back down in grade here could have a big say in the outcome.
Newmarket 2.55
I can see NO HALF MEASURES taking a bit of beating here. She was progressive last year winning 6 times in total. She ran a big race to finish fifth in the Prix de l’Abbaye at the top level on final outing and it should be an exciting season ahead. The booking of Ryan Moore suggests she is ready to go.
Beautiful Diamond was beaten just a neck in this on return last year and has potential to do better as a 4yo so looks the lively danger.
Newmarket 3.35
I was with FIELD OF GOLD in the Craven and he certainly didn’t let me down winning impressively. He travelled like a smart horse and once angled out was always coming home best. He is open to further improvement and granted usual luck in-running should come out on top.
Ruling Court has the right profile coming into this and was impressive in Meydan when last seen. With more to come he is the main threat.
