I know July Flower won by 11 lengths on chase debut but I don’t think she beat much and she didn’t jump great either. I much prefer BE AWARE who is following the same route as stablemate L’eau Du Sud and should have plenty more to come now.

Stencil looks like he should make a chaser and certainly isn’t completely out of this but will likely do better for the experience.

Not a vintage Paddy Power Gold Cup by any means but HOE JOLY SMOKE definitely catches the eye for the Skelton team. He is a very good jumper of a fence and handles testing conditions. The yard are going well and he is more unexposed than most over fences here.

Hunter Legend lacks class but does handle deep ground so has a squeak. Vincenzo will likely go off fav and is also feared.

Doyen Quest landed a punt in this last year for the Skelton team and they look to have lined up another one for it this year in the shape of SUPREMELY WEST. This son of Westerner caught the eye in defeat here last month and should be spot on now.

Kikijo is a promising horse and he ran well when fourth at Aintree so with improvement can threaten most in here.

Despite racing green and not jumping great FRESH PERSPECTIVE still won impressively at Fontwell on hurdles debut. I expect him to be a lot sharper this time around and with a slicker round of jumping should be able to follow up against these.

Cueros impressed winning on hurdles debut at Newcastle and with natural improvement should give the selection most to think about.

Pleasantly surprised to see ROYAL INFANTRY out to 11/2 here as his claims look crystal clear to me. He shaped like he needed the run in the Silver Trophy beaten just 4 lengths and with improvement a near certainty should have a great chance here. He is a promising young horse.

Jurancon has a similar profile and despite lacking a run should give a good account and is the danger. Kap Boy should also get involved.

I can see this being gamble landed on CERENDIPITY here. He bumped into Be Aware at Stratford on return and that was a very pleasing run. He can improve on that first start for 188 days and is a deserved favourite – hopefully the form gets franked.

Issam is a strong traveller and he could be a danger if picking up where he left off. Primoz has been expensive to follow and is passed over.
