NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT NEWCASTLE ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON!
Newcastle 1.30 Peltwell (11/10)
Likeable mare who showed a great attitude to hold on by a short head back down to 2 miles at Wincanton; followed up impressively at Wetherby since and escapes a penalty for the latter so hard to oppose here.
Since the cheekpieces have gone on back over 2 miles PELTWELL hasn’t looked back. She is a mare in great form right now and given she escapes a penalty for that latest success because it was a conditional jockeys’ event she is clearly the one to beat here. If she jumps well I don’t think anything will get near her. Highland Sky hasn’t shown a great deal in three starts to date but he has been handed tough asks the last twice so he’ll find this easier. Just looks to be bumping into one though but might be worth covering to place or in the without market. Nye Bevan was doing his best work at the finish last time and also has to be considered in opposition.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) ALSO RUNS OVER JUMPS AT WARWICK!
Warwick 5.20 Blairgowrie (6/4)
Expensive purchase who showed plenty of promise when third on debut at Warwick in December; just looked a bit clueless when asked to go forward so should know a lot more now; form been franked since; the one to beat.
Nicky Henderson often targets a smart one at this and he won the last renewal and has a good chance again with BLAIRGOWRIE. This expensive son of Yeats showed plenty of ability on debut and I expect him to be more streetwise here. If he improves he will be hard to beat as I expect him to win this before going over hurdles. The form of that run has been well advertised since with the winner Might I running creditably in a Listed event at Newbury and the second Fine Casting winning his next start in the style of a nice horse. Horizon D’Ainay is the biggest danger with the Skelton’s firing in the winners. He cost £80,000 but looks one who should come into his own over obstacles.
