NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) WON YESTERDAY AND RUNS AT CHEPSTOW ON TUESDAY NIGHT!
Chepstow 8.20 Polar Ice (2/1)
Potential to take a big step forward going up in trip now sent handicapping off a lenient mark; yard typically do well with this type of horse and likely to come into his own now; could easily go on to rack up a sequence.
The NAP was back in the winners enclosure on Monday as Ooh Is It bagged the rail and drew clear to win at Windsor. We head to Chepstow on Tuesday night and Sir Mark Prescott saddles 3yo POLAR ICE. This son of Dansili has shown bits and pieces of promise in three starts to date and I’m expecting a chunk of improvement now stepping up in trip off an opening mark of just 59. This looks a winnable race and I can see him taking this before potentially going on to win a few in a row. 2/1 looks generous at the time of writing as I’m sure he’ll be a gamble come post time. Beat The Storm is the closest in the betting and he was first past the post at Yarmouth before being disqualified. Needs more.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS AT BRIGHTON ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON!
Brighton 3.05 Smokey Malone (10/3)
Good looking grey who built on two encouraging efforts when getting back in the winners enclosure at Nottingham last time, running on strongly from off the pace; hold up tactics could pay dividends again here; big chance.
Celestial Point is a good filly but I’m quite surprised she is as short as she is because SMOKEY MALONE is in great form himself and given he is unexposed over this trip I think there’s lots to like especially if the favourite makes her move first. Her Way is the pace angle but I think Celestial Point won’t be far away and I can see her challenging first which would be a perfect scenario for the selection to swoop past late once she has no more to offer. New Approach filly Bookmark has been a bit disappointing so far but she is open to improvement now handicapping. While it might not be today I’ll be interested to see how she runs against these with an eye to the future.
