NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS ON THE AW AT WOLVERHAMPTON ON MONDAY NIGHT!
Wolverhampton 7.25 Cogital (11/8)
Won twice last term including once over hurdles and returned just as good denied a short head at Chepstow before going one better at Doncaster last month; up 4lb but 7lb claimer booked again and this looks very winnable.
Several of these have plenty to prove so up just 4lb from that Doncaster victory COGITAL looks to have a massive chance of following up under 7lb claimer Jordan Williams. He is still well handicapped on his old form and this trip looks ideal. He probably recorded stronger form in his short head defeat at Chepstow than he did last time but all in all he is clearly in good heart and with enough questions over the opposition he looks a strong play to come out on top again. Arabian King is entitled to strip fitter for that reappearance third at Chelmsford and he looks the danger with Cieren Fallon up. Monsaraz is still a couple of pounds above his last winning mark but also looks a bit of a threat.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS OVER AT NEWTON ABBOT ON MONDAY!
Newton Abbot 3.30 Elios D’Or (6/4)
Improved a chunk to win impressively over fences at Worcester last month, always travelling best and drawing clear readily; 9lb hike warranted and if he builds on that again he should have no problem following up.
It may have taken ELIOS D’OR six attempts to get off the mark over fences but it was the way he did it at Worcester last time that was so impressive. He sauntered into the lead and lengthened away smartly to win by 11 lengths. I know it probably wasn’t the strongest race in the world but then neither is this and if he is in the same form even a 9lb rise won’t be enough to anchor him. Statuario ran well at both Warwick and Southwell but that latest effort at Uttoxeter was pretty poor so he comes here with enough to prove at present. Darling Du Large isn’t entirely convincing either and needs more. Dogon is talented but looks an awkward ride. Admiral’s Sunset is the danger back in headgear.
