NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS OVER IN IRELAND ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON!
Punchestown 12.38 Cape Gentleman (6/5)
Likeable type who has looked a natural over fences winning impressively on chase debut over C&D and then following up by a wide margin in Grade 3 company at Cork last time; more to come yet and one to keep firmly on side.
I’ve been really impressed with CAPE GENTLEMAN over fences so far and the way he drew clear from a good field last time confirms he is an exciting chaser in the making. He goes back down in trip but had enough gears to win over this distance here last month and he can bring up the hat-trick now. Buddy Rich put Ballyadam in his place at Navan last week but looks held by the selection. Riviere D’etel is the danger having impressed at Fairyhouse but this will test her and she might just be bumping into one. Embittered has won 2 of his last 3 and has plenty of experience to call upon but is coming up against a progressive rival here in the fav so this looks a tough ask.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT WETHERBY ON SATURDAY!
Wetherby 2.35 Sauce Of Life (6/4)
Promising type who made a winning start in a bumper at Musselburgh, staying on well late; followed up at the same venue next time beating another nice prospect with the pair clear; hard to oppose now sent hurdling.
Given SAUCE OF LIFE is bred to do better tackling hurdles it is all the more encouraging he managed to remain unbeaten in bumpers. He could be a really nice horse for Nicky Richards and I don’t think he’ll have any problem making a winning start here. Lakota Warrior was a bit disappointing on hurdles debut at Aintree but it’s early days and I do think he’ll put up some sort of resistance against the fav. Largy Reach has shown ability and is another one who deserves attention but he might be seen in better light given more time and experience. The Dancing Poet probably sets the standard but I’ll be surprised if the selection doesn’t improve past him as well as one or two others.
