NAP – Best selection of the evening
Wetherby 1.00 Pay The Piper (6/4)
Likeable type who reached a decent level over hurdles and has already recorded some strong form over fences finishing third to Bravemansgame at Haydock before winning well at Newcastle last time; more to come so big chance.
The NAP went in again yesterday as Bravemansgame put Ahoy Senor firmly in his place at Kempton. Our best bet is now chasing a FOUR TIMER as we head to Wetherby on Monday. PAY THE PIPER toughed it out at Newcastle last time and with further improvement to come over fences he can follow up. This is competitive but I think he brings the most potential to the table and he is already officially the highest rated horse in the race. He has to give weight away all round but is a classy sort who should be up to the task. Chinwag made the breakthrough in this sphere at Ffos Las but this is tougher and he’ll need to find more to figure. Midnight River has more to offer so looks the danger.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS AT CHEPSTOW ON MONDAY AFTERNOON!
Chepstow 2.10 Take Your Time (9/4)
Progressive sort who took his form up a notch winning impressively on first crack over 3 miles at Ffos Las on return; stepped forward again to tough it out before going away at the finish over C&D last time; can complete the hat-trick.
A 5lb rise doesn’t look enough to anchor the improving TAKE YOUR TIME especially with Harry Cobden taking over again in the saddle. He stayed on strongly last time and is clearly getting better as his stamina is drawn out. He was ultimately going away at the finish again last time and with more to come can bring up the hat-trick. Al Dancer was a bit of an eye-catcher when fourth at Sandown and if he builds on that he could get competitive. Kateson likes it when the mud is flying and shaped well at Aintree so is also likely to be on the premises. Bells Of Peterboro was a creditable third on return last month and could also step forward from that but still needs more to peg back this fav.
