NAP – Best selection of the evening

Haydock 12.50 Papa Tango Charly (6/4)

Progressive sort who showed a good attitude to make it a perfect 2-2 over fences at Carlisle last time, always doing enough; this tougher up in grade but almost certainly has more to come and is one to keep on side.

There was lots to like about the way PAPA TANGO CHARLY thrashed Karl Philippe 12 lengths on debut over fences at Carlisle on his seasonal reappearance. That form has worked out well with the second winning impressively in a good race at Ludlow earlier in the week. The selection then improved again to follow up at the same venue last time and looks a young chaser going places now. This is obviously tougher stepping into graded company but he looks to be improving fast and can make it 4 wins in a row here. Minella Drama is a decent yardstick and he should give him a race but the fav might always be getting the better of the argument. Shakem Up’arry is also respected but needs more.

NAP

Haydock 12.50 Papa Tango Charly (6/4)

Navan 1.05 Ash Tree Meadow (13/8)

Lofty purchase who made a bright start finishing third at Fairyhouse needing the experience; improved to finish third behind Sir Gerhard at Leopardstown; should come into his own up in trip now so big chance.

This looks a great chance for ASH TREE MEADOW to make the breakthrough over hurdles. He has done nothing wrong so far and that looked a good race at Leopardstown last month. The winner Sir Gerhard is obviously destined for big things and he isn’t bumping into anything of that calibre here. He will improve for the step up in trip and the first-time hood (and tongue strap) can also help him. The danger could be Hybris for Willie Mullins. He is a half-brother to Bacardys and could take a big step forward now tackling hurdles. He will need to leave that bumper run behind in France though as he certainly didn’t pull down any trees there. Gracchus De Balme also deserves a shout but definitely needs more.
