Race 7 Moonee Valley 5.20 Marabi (10/11)

Exciting mare who is a perfect 5-5 and couldn’t have been any more impressive at Ballarat on return before following up in strong company at Caulfield last month; still improving and hard to oppose again.

Really looking forward to seeing MARABI at Moonee Valley in the early hours of Saturday morning (definitely setting the alarm). She remains unbeaten and impressed again beating Away Game at Caulfield last month. She has scope for further improvement and while this is notably tougher she remains exciting and I think she can make it a perfect 6-6. Sinawann beat I Am Superman at Caulfield when last seen in November last year and he looks the obvious threat along with Lightsaber who has 4 wins from 9 starts and wasn’t disgraced behind Anamoe on final start at Caulfield last year. A very good race but the favourite brings that star potential for me and I fancy her to take this out.

Progressive colt who looked a bit unlucky to go down just a nose in the Cox Plate when last seen; definitely still has more to come and if near full fitness should be too classy for this field despite coming back in trip.

I’ve always been a big fan of ANAMOE and I think he is destined for big things. He missed just a nose in the Cox Plate and that was a huge effort. He has the inside draw here with McDonald up and even with the drop back in trip and the possibility that he will come on for the run he should still have too many gears for these rivals. He is a colt I want to keep firmly on side as he has a bright future. Standout is a useful yardstick but his form is nowhere near as strong as that of the selection. Similar comments apply to Tiger Of Malay to be honest and he’ll need to put that run at Caulfield behind him on return. Forbidden Love may be the one to chase the fav home as she is a tough mare who has had a trial.
