NAP – Best selection of the evening

Curragh 3.45 Magical Lagoon (5/4)

Galileo filly who knuckled down in real likeable fashion to fend off Sea Silk Road to win the Ribblesdale last month; completely unexposed over this trip and if she improves again she is going to take a lot of stopping.

The NAP won again yesterday as Operating drifted from 11/8 out to 9/4 before winning on the bridle at Nottingham. That was my fourth winner on the trot so hopefully I can make it a FIVE-TIMER on Saturday! I really like the chances of MAGICAL LAGOON for Jessica Harrington. This filly was improving with experience before enjoying the step up in trip to win the Ribblesdale last month. The second Sea Silk Road had previously looked promising winning at Nottingham and Goodwood so the form looks solid. With Emily Upjohn out of this race due to travel complications it looks a great chance for this daughter of Galileo to make her mark at Group 1 level. History is likely to chase her home.

NB – Second best selection of the day

MY NEXT BEST RUNS OVER AT RIPON ON SATURDAY!

Ripon 2.58 Wait To Excel (11/8)

Postponed colt who has improved with every race and always looked in control winning convincingly at Hamilton last month, staying on well; open to further progress now handicapping so great chance to follow up.

The way WAIT TO EXCEL slammed a promising Haggas horse in King Of Ice at Hamilton last time was very impressive and with the promise of more to come now handicapping I think he can follow up for James Tate. He always looked in command and found plenty before staying on strongly at the finish. The pair came a country mile clear from the rest so it was a real likeable effort. He goes handicapping off a mark of 87 and I think that could prove lenient. Luminous Light is a horse I still like and he bounced back from that Newbury flop to finish third at Chester last time. He should give the selection most to think about but I still feel probably needs a bit more time and experience.
