Gone from strength to strength since finishing a nose back in second in this last year; neck too strong for I’m Thunderstruck at the top level last time and fierce pace here should set things up perfectly for him.
This looks a cracking renewal of the Cox Plate. We have 9 Group 1 winners and 3 non-Group 1 winners that have all placed at Group 1 level in their last run. The loveable ANAMOE is looking to make it four Group 1 wins in a row which would be some feat if he managed to pull it off. He has gone from strength to strength since being cruely denied in this last year and he couldn’t come into this in any better form. He worked on Tuesday and looked smart and his prep has been faultless. I still don’t think we’ve seen the best of him and this end-to-end gallop will suit perfectly so no surprise to see him a strong favourite. The danger might be El Bodegon who makes his debut Down Under.

Race 8 Ascot 10.02 Bustler (best price 7/4)
Exciting type who was heavily punted on debut at Belmont and justified that support to win by a snug half a length; made a winning reappearance last time running on strongly from off the pace; hat-trick beckons.
Great chance for the improving BUSTLER to make it a perfect 3/3. He has impressed both starts and almost certainly has further improvement to come. This is winnable and I’ll be surprised if he is beaten. Casey sends two to try and beat him with perhaps Rockin’ Rupert the best of them. Ran well when third at Ascot and if improving could give the favourite most to think about. Capricorn Man is 2 from 3 over this trip and has to be feared as well but I think the selection might have a bit of star quality about him. Trade War finished third on return last time behind the selection so has ground to make up but might be value to rattle the frame. Galaxy Affair impressed on penultimate start but beaten since.
