MY AUSTRALIAN NAP RUNS IN RACE 9 AT ROSEHILL ON SATURDAY MORNING!

Race 9 Rosehill 6.20 Cross Talk (best price 1/1)

Progressive form last campaign going up through the grades impressively; ran a cracker when third in the Group 3 Bill Ritchie at Randwick before excuses final start; won a recent trial and expected to make a winning return.

I’m looking forward to seeing the return of CROSS TALK at Rosehill on Saturday. He has won 5 of his 10 starts and brings a lot of potential to the table here. He had excuses on final start and that third looks really strong form. He has won a recent trial so should be primed for this and is expected to prove too strong. Bullfinch is a decent yardstick and looks the one most likely to pose the biggest threat. He has fitness on side after finishing third behind Beaufort Park at Randwick last month. Lackeen also has solid form in the book but was behind the selection in the Bill. Ritchie last time so has ground to make up and is more exposed. Cuban Royale likely best of the remainder.

Race 5 Flemington 4.00 Annavisto (best price 11/8)

Likeable mare who failed to give her running when down the field at Eagle Farm when last seen; goes particularly well fresh and won a Cranbourne trial so expected to have too many gears for this field; worth chancing.

Hard to see how ANNAVISTO doesn’t win this if anywhere near her best. I’m happy to forgive her that run at Eagle Farm back in June and if you look at her record fresh it is seriously impressive. She has 6 wins from 16 and is 4 from 10 at the trip so lots to like. Wrote To Arataki is on a hat-trick and she is going the right way but if the favourite brings her true running she will likely be up against it. Vespertine has won 4 from 20 but didn’t shape badly when fourth at Sandown. She will only get involved if the front two disappoint. Ecelida was poor at Sandown last time and needs to leave that behind to have any sort of a chance. She is more exposed than most in here too.
