MY AUSTRALIAN NAP RUNS IN RACE 1 AT DOOMBEN ON WEDNESDAY!

Race 1 Doomben 3.38 Ghostwriter (best price 1/1)

Likeable type who arrives at the top of his game having won over track and trip and then a solid second last time; loves this track and if bringing his best should have this field covered.

This isn’t the best race so it represents a good opportunity for GHOSTWRITER to get his head back in front. He won over C&D on penultimate start and didn’t do a lot wrong last time. No surprise to see him top the betting and should be able to justify favouritism. Tintinwin has won 4 times and was back in the winners enclosure last time so looks the obvious danger off the back of that. More exposed than the selection though and needs to prove he can back up that last run. Flying Joy also arrives in winning form having scored at Eagle Farm last month. This does look tougher so if she can build on that after just 11 starts she could run well but a bit to find with the top 2 mentioned here. The rest look up against it including Applecross despite running well at Gatton last time.

Race 1 Sandown 4.05 Skywriter (best price 6/4)

Improving filly who built on her eye-catching debut run to finish runner-up again over slightly shorter here last month; well backed that day and only missed narrowly; hard to beat.

This lacks strength in depth so I think SKYWRITER is a standout if improving again. She has shown plenty in two starts so far and only missed half a length here last month. With further progress on the cards now she should go one better. I can see her being backed and possibly even going off a shade of odds-on come post time. Mister Jonno was an encouraging fourth on debut at Ballarat and could threaten if improving. Brazen Kingdom has shown potential but needs more if the selection improves as expected. Irish Crickets keeps knocking on the door but this looks a little tougher again so he might be left vulnerable. Parabellum makes her debut but unless the market speaks for her she should come on for the experience. Segment looks up against it on all known form.
