MY AUSTRALIAN NAP RUNS IN RACE 1 AT BALLINA ON THURSDAY MORNING!

Race 1 Ballina 3.30 Rommel’s Wolf (best price 7/4)

Likeable type who ran on strongly from off the pace to score with a bit in hand at Port Macquarie 3 starts back; held his form well since and with further improvement to come looks the most likely winner in this field.

I’m confident ROMMEL’S WOLF will take a bit of beating at Ballina on Thursday night. He has hinted for a while that he is a useful type and that win at Port Macquarie last month was convincing. He didn’t do a lot wrong last time having been given a fair bit to do and comfortably looks the one to beat. Bellzen has had 9 starts with just the 1 win and while he might be the danger he needs to better what he produced last time as that wouldn’t be good enough. Brave Instinction won at Ballina but this has more strength in depth and he might be up against it as well.

Race 6 Northam 8.25 Lonsdaleite (best price 15/8)

Improving with experience and didn’t run badly despite only finishing midfield at Belmont last time; this looks easier and with more to come seems to have found a good opening to finally return to winning ways here.

Hard to go against LONSDALEITE who should find this easier and get back to winning ways. He hasn’t been running badly in defeat and this is the easiest company he would have faced for a while. On The Full won at Belmont last time and he looks the danger but he’ll need to improve again to beat the selection I think. Work In Progress is a decent yardstick but she finished last at Ascot and needs to bounce back to have a chance in this but she could be capable so it will be interesting to see what the market does. I’m All Miss has more to come but this is quite a good race.
