Race 8 Belmont 9.20 Real Grace (6/5)

Smart filly who had excuses here on return but was back to form staying on from well off the pace to finish fourth over track and trip earlier this month; fitter now and more to come so good chance to get back to winning ways.

This isn’t a bad race but at the same time it represents a very good opportunity for REAL GRACE to get back on track. She overraced early two starts back before being struck into and finishing last. She put that behind her to stay on well for fourth over C&D last time and she won’t need to find much more improvement to get back to winning ways. Agent Jay has 5 wins from 20 starts and has a decent profile. He looks the threat to the fav but if she is back on song he might always be struggling to contain her late in the day. Stablemate Devoted Star ran poorly last time so she’ll need to put that firmly behind her to threaten for a place here. Jag The Joker probably best of the rest.

Race 4 Gold Coast 4.49 Stocked And Loaded (11/8)

Likeable type who is better than what he was able to show when fifth at Eagle Farm last time; very good second at Doomben prior to that and with the promise of more to come looks well placed to make the breakthrough.

We head to Gold Coast for our second best bet Down Under on Saturday and STOCKED AND LOADED looks a good bet to beat Royal Sky in Race 4 on the card. This horse has 3 seconds and a third from 10 attempts and with the promise of more to come should have a big chance of shedding the maiden-tag here. Royal Sky is the obvious threat on form but did run flat last time so will need to bounce back to give the selection a race. The front pair look a fair way clear as Remarkables just hasn’t shown enough to win a race like this after two poor runs. Similar comments apply to Kawuneeche who blew out last time and will struggle here. Hard to see anything at bigger prices springing an upset.
